After setting the basic repeat time, e.g. every 5 hours, every 2 days, you can set days to avoid for each individual job. By default (although you can customise the defaults) Saturdays and Sundays are set as days to avoid, but you may set any day of the week.
When the next time for the job is calculated, the days to avoid are taken into account. The next repeat time is made later if it would fall on a day to avoid except for "months relative to the end" repeats, when it is made earlier.
An eight kind of "day to avoid" you may want to specify is a holiday, and the holidays may be edited using the various interfaces, including the shell interface and the API for example:
Example holiday dialog on X-Windows.
The holidays are set or unset by selecting the day and clicking the button, alternatively right-clicking the mouse will set or unset the day.
